Week 25: Tee sites are pricked and fertilized<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Week 26: Fairways are reseeded if there has been rain<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brilliant weather helps the mood, the golf and on the course. We have had really good growth over the last several weeks and our fairways in particular have recovered very well after the winter and cold spring. The heat looks set to continue, but if there is no rainfall then growth will slow down very soon. In the next few weeks the greenkeepers will focus on keeping up with the growth and hand watering areas on the greens and green surroundings that do not have sufficient coverage from the irrigation system. Weeding will also be the top trend from now on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The well driller is almost finished. In week 24 they will be working on the electrical installations. We do not expect any more interruptions to the water supply. While connecting the water pipes to the existing system, we were without water for 4 days and this can be felt quickly. When the well driller has disappeared from the course, the greenkeepers will start repairing the damage and making the area look as natural as possible again. Our water main is still undergoing official processing, so the water is still closed. Therefore, remember to fill up well in the clubhouse before the round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It sounds strange in a course update for club members. But it is clear after this start of the season that some members forget that the club is located in a special place and is subject to very strict restrictions. Because we have not had an easy and problem-free start to our greens this season and the complaints about this fact have been many. Winter illness, wear and tear and a cold spring have meant that we are not quite where we usually are at this time. We have to go back to the start of the 2013 season to experience a similar weak start to the season, but when we take into account the fact that, unlike the vast majority of golf courses in Denmark, we are operated pesticide-free, then things have gone very well. 7 years without any major problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The country is incredibly divided. Some have come through the winter beautifully, others miserably. Despite the use of fungicides against winter diseases. We have to manage without them. A fact we should be proud of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the winter damage is behind us, we are approaching the time when weeds appear on the course. For those critics who also think it is too bad, I can inform you that the course is of course also run without the use of herbicides. That is why we see plantain, bellis and clover on our course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Summer also means many shades of grass color. Our strategy for survival in winter is based on red fescue thriving and dominating. It is a frugal plant that is favored over other grass species if you care for it with minimal input of fertilizer and water. A drought like we are having now and where we are seeing some yellow and mottled greens is actually really good when you want to change the species composition on greens in particular. That is why the color of our greens is not green or dark green. This is also where we differ from other courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
