With earlier efforts, new equipment and a more thorough process, KGK is now a few weeks ahead of many other clubs.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a>Reseeding is over \u2013 did it go as planned, and have we done anything different this year?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are halfway through the 2026 season, and the track has already experienced noticeable climate changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May was both dry and cold, and there were significantly fewer clippings in the boxes than we would normally hope for that month. In fact, 45% less clippings were measured in May 2026 compared to May 2025. This is part of the explanation why the greens took so long to get going after the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was not only a challenge in KGK, but generally throughout Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">June, on the other hand, brought the first heat wave of the year, with several days reaching over 30 degrees. This meant many hours of hand watering, partly due to the high evaporation, but especially to keep our newly sown grass on the greens alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This leads to our completed and successful reseeding at the end of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an introduction, I would like to emphasize that this is a task that all clubs with ambitions for better playing surfaces must go through.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>An intervention no one wants<\/strong><br>Is it fun to work as a greenkeeper? No, definitely not. It is never nice to have to \u201cruin\u201d a well-functioning surface for the members.<br><br>Conversely, as professionals, we also think about the subsequent result, which in the long term should result in more even, dense and disease-resistant greens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the past six seasons, the work has typically been carried out between weeks 27 and 31. This year we chose a slightly different solution and completed the work already in week 25, as announced in advance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dotted holes were no bigger than in previous years. What was different, however, was the use of pure white sand. The visual appearance has given many people the impression of larger holes, but this is largely an optical illusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Only six a day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We filled all the holes completely in the first go, which meant we avoided backfilling and areas where sand was missing later. We also chose to only take on six greens per day to ensure that each green was fully completed before moving on to the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As announced in previous updates, this also meant a period of uneven and less pleasant greens to play on. Unfortunately, this is a natural part of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After this type of work, the greens will be softer for a period of time than we as a club would like. This is partly because the holes need to be closed with new grass, but also because extra watering is required for a period of time to keep the new sprouts alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We are ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#039;s now been three weeks since we finished the work, and here are photos from both the process and the result three weeks later. Personally, I think the result is very successful.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firmness and green speed are slowly starting to return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can also be mentioned that many clubs are currently working on the same task or have just completed it. We have only been a few weeks ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How often will it happen \u2013 and will it be as intense as in week 25?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Normally, you start the season with a reseeding of greens after the winter. Unfortunately, that was not an option this year.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our newly purchased machine for the task was originally scheduled for delivery around Easter, but delivery delays meant that it did not arrive until later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Traditional greenkeeping<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, you typically want to re-sow between weeks 25 and 31. The reason is simple: At that time, the conditions for germination are best due to temperature and sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some clubs also choose to reseed at the end of late summer, around the end of September or the beginning of October. Here, the soil temperature is still high, while often getting some help from more natural rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We hope that with the above, everyone understands why this process is necessary for a course that wants to develop and progress. With professional pride, we work every day to ensure you have the best possible course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More power in June<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortunately, much more than just reseeding also happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our robots are now running more or less flawlessly and are making a huge difference in daily operations. On the practice field we are still experimenting a bit with the cutting height of the impact piece, but we are getting close to the level we want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our quick-drill was delivered and put into use for the reseeding we have been waiting for for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KGK also received our new electric mowers. For those of you who have already seen them \u2013 or perhaps not heard of them \u2013 they are a significant improvement to the machinery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Project tea place<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">June 2026 was also the month when KGK, after a well-executed and approved application to the Danish Nature Agency, received permission to establish the first stage of a new teeing ground on the driving range, constructed as a continuous mat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will be a major improvement to the club&#039;s training opportunities, and could prove to be a real game changer if the Danish Nature Agency grants a permanent permit in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area will be used flexibly as part of our various training setups and will therefore not be in use every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The near future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The summer holidays are underway, and the greenkeeper team is therefore at a slightly lower cadence as several employees are on vacation. The focus in the coming period will primarily be on daily maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With summer comes the heat. There will therefore be areas that will need more watering during the day. However, we believe we are well prepared for the summer period, and we monitor the conditions daily to ensure that the course performs as well as possible during the hot months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
