About Oldboys

KGK's Old Boys are a group of 'older' gentlemen aged 55+ who meet every Friday during the season – which is from the beginning of April to the end of October – and play according to handicap and tournament rules, thereby maintaining their golf skills.

We will be holding a backward Gun Start (holes 18, 17, 16, 15 and 1) starting at 9:00 a.m. That way we can all have lunch together and celebrate the day's winners – and build on our good camaraderie.

The game is played in three rows: Row A plays 18 holes from Tee 57, Row B plays 18 holes from Tee 52 and Row C plays 9 holes from Tee 49.

We also play with other clubs on a rotating basis, both at home and abroad, and we have at least one annual trip either to Sweden or another club on Zealand.

During the year we play various matches, such as: Tee Championship over 5 matches, where all Tee places on the course are played, Modified Stroke Play, 4-7-9 and Stableford. In total, approximately 30 annual matches are held, including the popular match with the Tuesday Club (KGK's Ladies Club), where we play a mixed Greensome.

Highlight of the week
"It was my wife who "forced" me to play golf and via the "married couple list" I became a member of KGK. Golf fit in well with my work schedule at the time, as I could "burn down Dyrehaven" before 8:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. Now I also enjoy playing the weekly tournament on Tuesdays and occasionally regional golf for the super veterans. I have also gotten to know many of the club's members through the various club tournaments during the season. As a pensioner, I need regular activities. Old Boys in Dyrehaven on Fridays is one of the highlights of the week. Fresh air, exercise, competition and pleasant company prolong life."

Erik Fabrin
Opens the door to new friends
"I have been a member of 2 golf courses for many years. One in Lausanne and one in Denmark. When we decided 5 years ago to settle in Charlottenlund, and there was an opportunity for membership in KGK, I jumped at the chance. A decision I do not regret. Starting in a new club where I knew no one is in many ways an experiment. I immediately also joined Old Boys, which is a sub-club. These turned out to be two good decisions. The camaraderie and togetherness have opened the door to new friends and acquaintances, which has led to me actively participating in Old Boys' many exciting Friday events. I also participate in the Tuesday tournament, general golf tournaments and regional golf when the opportunity arises. The combination of a good social environment, an active club life and a magnificent course in a unique natural area makes every golf day a good day."

How we play

18-holes:  We have chosen to hold a Backward Gun Start – i.e. starting on holes 1, 18, 17, 16, 15 – every Friday at 9:00 AM.

We register via Golfbox under Club Tournaments no later than Wednesday 10:00. Golfbox then generates the start list with start time and starting hole for all registered players, who receive a notification via email the same afternoon. We use electronic score registration via mobile phone.

Before registering, you must decide whether you want to play the A-row from Tee 57 or the B-row from Tee 52.

You can register several weeks in advance via Golfbox under Club Tournaments.

Scorecards are printed by the secretariat and collected from the office on Friday morning before departure to the starting hole. After the match, scorecards are returned to the office.

If you are forced to cancel after Wednesday at 8:00 AM, this must be done via the office.

9-holes (C-row): Members who play 9 holes register in Golfbox under Club Tournaments no later than Wednesday 10:00.

The 9-hole round starts at Tee 49 and ends when the last 18-hole ball has completed hole 1.
