KGK has proud traditions in the past years in the DGU Team Tournament. On the weekend of September 19-20, the last KGK flags fell in the Regional Final, East (LDF) in Harekær. Harekær put on a particularly windy pitch for the LDF, where all ranks east of the Great Belt were to be decided between the four best teams in the qualification. This year, KGK had the U25 team (traditionally called the ”girls” team“, but this year with competent substitutes with Y chromosomes) qualified for the LDF East. It was a tough match in the morning semi-final against a very strong playing Mølleåen ”1“ team, who gave a lesson in high and stable golf level. KGK had to take a slap in the face 7-0 and go to the bronze final. Here, however, the girls got up in the most beautiful way and gave – indeed – Mølleåen ”2” a similar lesson of 7-0 and were able to wear some well-deserved bronze medals. It is of course a step down from last year's National Final gold medal, but nevertheless it is incredible that the U25 team has maintained its level through 3 seasons now. Big congratulations to everyone on the team!
The season's overall results follow here. KGK had three teams in the DGU Team Tournament this year (max. capacity) and one team in the Danish Tournament for Youth Teams.
Youth team: After two seasons in quarantine, the team was back in the qualifying series, where 18 holes are played and without handicaps. KGK was in a strong group with Furesø, Værløse and Kokkedal. KGK cruised through the first three matches with 6 points on their account. There was a sense of a quick promotion to the higher air levels. From here, however, things went really haywire, and the last three matches were lost in a strange way; too good golf is simply played if you take a break. It gives you one more learning season in the qualification. But I wonder if the team will continue next year; the quality of the team and the food chain is simply too great. The team consisted throughout the season of: August Mønsted, Victor Holstein Arnesen, Philip Tiger Hamilton, Ella Vittrup-Bertheussen, Emil Helmbæk, Johanne Ostenfeld, Herman Ravnholt Frandsen and Theodor Betzer.
U16A: The team started the season by losing the first two matches to Søllerød and Kokkedal, and it looked bleak from the last place in the pool. From here, however, the boys made a clean sheet with four final wins and ended up as the pool's no. 2. The team was the only one who managed to defeat the later pool winners from Søllerød, who were incredibly strong with five wins out of six possible. Almost and almost – and from this you can learn to never give up, even if it looks bleak. Golf is a strange thing when the pressure is taken off. The team has consisted of: Vitus Rindom Riis, Conrad von Holstein, Sebastian Skafte-Pedersen, Danyang Zhang, Emil Siersbæk Alexandersen, August Pallumblad Antonsen, Victor Elver Hintze and Piet Saunte.
U16M: This year we had many candidates on the U16M list – ”promoters” from the U16A team in previous years. It was a particularly tough promotion. Furesø, Dragør and Hjortespring were in the dynamite pool, and KGK did not get a foot on the ground throughout the season. Many matches ended extremely close – but without going KGK's way. Expensive lessons, but I wonder if there is no experience gained for the coming season and not least many laughs and happy moments regardless – because that is fortunately how the Team Tournament is. The team has consisted of Nikolaj Gammelgaard Wulff, Johannes Ostenfeld, Philip Tiger Hamilton, Frederik Hove-Andersen, Herman Ravnholt Frandsen, Charlie Dulong Hoff, Danyang Zhang and Theodor Betzer throughout the season.
U25: As mentioned, qualified for the LDF via 4 wins out of 6 possible in the qualification, which was probably due to a very close match in the pool, which consisted of Nivå, Søllerød and Hørsholm, who diligently took points from each other. KGK were the only ones in a pool with four teams and thus went directly to the LDF without a knock-out intermediate round (appropriate when some teams only played two matches). It ended with some great bronze medals – see above.
