BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND COMMITTEES

The Chairman has the floor.

News from the board – March 3, 2025

Dear members,

The other day I greeted George, a new member. We are roomies, his locker is above mine. Nice, because we had emailed together when he wrote to the club that he might be interested. What kind of club were we? How do we differ? And I tried my best to give an impression – Dyrehaven, run by the members, the history, the atmosphere – enough for him to choose us.
“And it’s exactly as I hoped,” he said, “there’s a club life here, I feel welcome, the course is beautiful, I’ve already been out playing with a number of nice and welcoming members.” The fact that George only speaks English is obviously no obstacle. Well, that makes a chairman happy.

Because that is the foundation for the year we are going through. That we can move together, that we can maintain friendliness and good spirits, that we accept the challenges, that we help each other and hold on to what makes us special. That the track is a big part is a given, a track that we can be both happy about and proud of.

The strength of Copenhagen Golf Club is the volunteers who help the club with the many tasks it takes to run a golf club today. This applies to both those who have a place on our committees and those who volunteer when a task is called for. I have yet to meet a member who has said no when asked to help with a task. It is so appreciated.

We have also learned - the hard way - how important our employees are. Not least socially. Even though we, who have chosen you to lead the club, first and foremost assess whether they are doing their jobs, they are doing a job that has not become less complex over the years.

When I read 25-30 year old annual reports, it looks so simple. But today, all the IT systems alone, Golfbox, Mailchimp, worldpress, office emails, director emails and Share archive… And then there is E-conomics and inventory management and the Excel sheets we have to make to keep track of ongoing expenses in relation to the budget. There are rules about working time registration, child certificates, food control, holiday arrangements. Not to mention climate change and the resulting requirements for equipment and technology. The list is long….

But it's all about golf. The joy of the game, regardless of whether you are a child, young person or adult. The joy of being a member of a golf club that is not like everyone else, and perhaps even in spite of the fact that it is not. The joy of being a member of KGK.

What we are. Who we are.

We are Scandinavia's first golf club located on the unique and historic Eremitageslette. Member or guest, the course is an experience for everyone, gives greater golfing pleasure and keeps you in better shape, because in Dyrehaven we can play all year round. Although close to the city, yet free from noise in the protected area. Enjoy the view from the terrace over the Eremitage and experience golf history in Scandinavia's first golf club, together with family and friends.

The course is designed for a wide range of handicaps, with strategic play as important as aesthetics. It will challenge you at whatever level your golf game is at, while also providing a fantastic natural experience in all seasons.

The encounter with the game of golf can become a lifelong love, balm for the soul, give you good health and expand your social network, because everyone can play against everyone. Golf can be played throughout life, there is a pleasant atmosphere in the club, and friendships are created when you enjoy yourself on the 19th hole terrace after playing and training.

It's fun to start and with the help you receive from members, coaches and secretariat you'll quickly be well underway.

For new members, KGK creates joy and networking. You feel welcome from Day 1, surrounded by kindness and happy people.
