Junior Team Tournament 2024

June update on the Junior Team Tournament (JHT) for U16.

We can already note a great success with this year's JHT. Throughout the spring season, the juniors have shown great enthusiasm and team spirit around JHT. It is a pleasure to see how they enjoy themselves together in the teams and with their opponents. And there is even a queue to be in the team matches; the team captains have had to be tough in the rotation principles. The breadth of the boys' team in particular has impressed. We expect to have to field more teams next season in JHT.

It has also been a great spring season in terms of sports. After last year's close-and-near for both teams, this year we have turned up the winning mentality.

After an early defeat to Smørum, the girls' team has not looked back. Even before the last round match at home against Kokkedal on June 6, the girls have won their opening group by the best mutual match against the second top team in the group, Dragør. It was thus cosmetic that the girls narrowly lost to Kokkedal 4-3 in the last match, after having been ahead for large periods. But with a strong final sprint, Kokkedal won. You can't win every time, but the girls drew the longest straw in the vast majority of close matches throughout the season and therefore deserved to continue in the tournament.

The girls are directly qualified for the playoffs in Korsør on September 22, as the girls avoid a play-off match in Division U16A East. Congratulations to the girls!

Throughout the season, the girls' team has consisted of Cecilie Brandt Krenk, Signe Widlund, Ella Vittrup-Bertheussen, Antonia Noye Ostenfeld and Sofia von Holstein.

The boys' team has started extremely strongly with four wins out of four possible. The boys have therefore taken a clear lead in the pool early on and have given themselves a number of match points in settling matters and following the girls through the tournament as pool winners. The match at home on June 6 against the other possible top team, Asserbo, was the first match point, but it unfortunately became the first lost match of the campaign. The boys therefore have an exciting end to June. There are still good opportunities for advancement. This requires at least one point in the last match against Asserbo away, or for Asserbo to add points in their last match.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for the boys' team!

Throughout the season, the boys' team has consisted of Conrad von Holstein, Victor Holstein Arnesen, Frederik Hove-Andersen, Philip Tiger Hamilton, Piet Saunte, Samuel Ring, Theodore McGregor and Johannes Noye Ostenfeld.

It has been impossible to get all the participants together for a photo, so we have to bet that will happen in Korsør in September 😉 A selection of the teams can be seen in the pictures above.

Well fought by KGK's super cool juniors.
