Life at the KGK Old Boys Club in October 2023.

Red deer October 2023

We have now completed this year's season and the board would like to thank everyone for their efforts during the season. We already have the 2024 Annual Plan ready and it will be sent to everyone in January 2024, when we know who still wants to be a member of our club.

This version is best read on a PC with full screen view.

Results matches in October:

October 6:

It was the day we completed the last section of this year's Tee Championship by playing a round from Tee 45. It was a slightly rainy morning, but around the start of the match, it mostly stopped raining. Whether it was the rain that kept a few people from not showing up, we can't know for good reasons, but it's incredibly bad style to just stay away from a match you signed up for!

The winner of the match was Michael Laursen with 34 points ahead of Mikael Randel and Erik Fabrin.

The 9-hole match was won by Niels Jørgen Jæger with 15 points ahead of Christian Ravn and Erik Hamre.

It was great to have a visit from Kenneth Troedsson, 1-2385, who has now moved to Sweden permanently. Kenneth is still considering being a member of KGK in some way, so that he can continue to be part of the Old Boys Club!

Overall winner and 2023 Tee Master became Michael Gerlif with 142 points ahead of Erik Fabrin with 134 and Lars Høhne with 131. In 4th place came Poul Hansen with 127 points and in 5th place Niels Walløe with 126 points.

Congratulations to all winners.

October 7-11 – this year's golf trip to Spain:

16 fresh members were registered for this year's golf trip and let's make one thing clear: It was a super nice trip we had to the magnificent Emporda Golf Resort in Costa Brava in Northern Spain. Super hotel, super rooms, super courses, super company, and super nice employees on site – and super nice that the bar already closed at 10:00 PM 🙂 The weather was also super nice, with 27-28 degrees every day and sun from morning until evening – everyone agreed that we could easily go there again.

We played a match over 3 days at Emporda (2 x Forest + 1 x Links) and the final of the match was held on a 'neutral' course, as on the way to the airport we played a round on the Stadium Course at PGA Catalunya. All participants contributed to the prizes and the result of the 4 day match was that Erik Fabrin won with 130 points ahead of Poul Hansen also with 130 points and with Finn B. Allingstrup in 3rd place with 128 points. Finn had a birthday along the way and invited us for cava on the day - thanks to Finn for the nice gesture!

Arve (disguised as stewardess Teresa) ensured a good atmosphere already on the flight from Copenhagen 😊

October 13:

It was a rainy day – and unfortunately that meant that quite a few dropped out – or much worse: dropped in! This is extremely bad style, which is completely unacceptable. Couldn't they have dropped out so that the system wasn't challenged? Fortunately, those who dropped in were only a two-ball. In the B-row, only 4 oldboys played: Poul Hansen, Ulrik The Eagle Andersen-Alstrup, Mikael Thorsen and Kim Heshe – and since there is a bottle of wine for every 5th player, it was admirable that these 4 still went 18 holes! Thank you for that!

In the A-row there was a ball where one player had not selected a marker before the round started and did not get it to work while the office was within reach so they could have helped – and this resulted in two players not being able to register a score on the day. Sour for them – and hopefully educational for the person in question?

The A-series was won by Erik Fabrin with 31 points ahead of Ib Jacobsen with 28 and Poul Birch with 25. The red wine went to Ib Jacobsen, as Erik Fabrin had won wine the last 2 times.

On the way home from the club, your editor thought about whether we should set up a club-within-a-club-within-a-club, which could be called something like this: “I-don’t-play-in-the-rain-club”. We could then, before the Start List was drawn up, delete the players in question if the weather forecast promised rain, so that they wouldn’t be a problem for everyone else on the day? Maybe worth a thought?

We didn't mention the winners in the C-row: The winner was Theis Jensen with 15 points ahead of Lars Monrad-Gylling with 13 and Søren Juhl Hansen with 11 points.

Congratulations to all winners.

October 20:

The chairman's favorite match (4-7-9) was held this Friday and there was a forecast of storms and high water levels south of Copenhagen and over the southeastern regions. Already on Thursday late afternoon the first cancellation came in – not because of the storm, but because it was thought that it would be too cold! – and here we thought that when you play golf, it was only a question of clothing – because golf is played in all kinds of weather?

That turned out not to be the only cancellation, because in the morning there were only 2 players in the C row, 5 players in the B row and 11 in the A row.

It was also a challenge – a very big challenge to complete the 18 holes when there were wind gusts of >20 m/s. But it was the last chance to improve your OOM score, so the steadfast ones came, played and had something to talk about after the round 🙂 Maybe we should also consider creating another club-within-a-club-within-a-club, called something like: “I-don’t-play-golf-in-windy-weather-Club”?

The winner in the C-row was Anders Scheuer Nielsen ahead of Erik Hamre.

The winner in the B-row was Poul Hansen with 25 points ahead of Kersi with 22 and Lars Høhne with 19. The port wine went to Niels Kofoed, who beat the chairman on hole 18 ☹

The winner in the A-series was Ib Jacobsen with 28 points ahead of Arve Sund with 25 and Mikael Randel with 22. The port wines went to Jens Frederik Hansen, Nils Juhl Andreasen and Michael Elkiær Andersen.

Congratulations to all winners.

October 27:

The final match was like the Opening Match in a format where different holes had an impact on the final result. It was a Team match and it was perfect golfing weather. We were 11 teams in total and 7 of them were able to play the 12 holes from tee 49 in under 3 hours (the first 2 teams came in after 2.5 hours), while the last 4 teams had to spend just over 3.5 hours on the same – that is not good enough and shows that there is a need to tighten up the speed in 2024 – so that will be the case, as the chairman mentioned in his report. The winners were the team consisting of: Kersi Porbunderwalla, Ib Jacobsen, Christian Geisler and Niels Kofoed, who scored a total of 55 points.

 (The happy winning team)

This year's OOM winners

A-row: Ib Jacobsen ahead of Erik Fabrin and Michael Gerlif

B-row: Kersi Porbunderwalla ahead of Steen Mahneke and Poul Hansen. Steen and Poul had the same number of points, but Steen had won one match more than Poul.

C-row: Henrik Pedersen ahead of Erik Hamre and Anders Scheuer Nielsen

Birthdays

Kim Heshe 70 years old November 7

General meeting minutes

We had a quiet general meeting this year, as neither the board nor the members had any proposals to vote on. Here are the minutes:

Member 1-567 Mr. Thomas Bjerregaard was unanimously elected chairman. He noted that the meeting had been convened in accordance with the association's articles of association, which meant that the general meeting was legal and had a quorum.

He then gave the floor to the Chairman for his report (SEE HERE) – and it was approved by acclamation.

The treasurer then presented the association's accounts for the past period – this was also approved by acclamation.

We then moved on to the election of the first chairman, where Tommy G. Petersen was re-elected and thus Niels Walløe (treasurer) and Erik Hamre (9-hole manager) were also re-elected by acclamation.

Michael Elkiær Andersen was willing to be re-elected as alternate and he was elected by acclamation. Michael Ankjær did not wish to continue as alternate and the board has chosen to continue the coming period with only one alternate, which was also approved.

The auditor proposed by the board of directors, Mr. Søren Juhl Hansen, was also re-elected by acclamation.

Since there were no proposals for the general meeting, we then moved on to the item "Any other business".

After the general meeting, we drew lots among all participants for the bottles we had in surplus – there were 34. Everything that was purchased in 2023 has also been delivered and the wine cabinet is now completely empty.
