The track in April

Driving range

Then we really took the plunge this spring. It's been a long time coming.

The weather forecast promises golfing weather and not least working weather in the first half of April, so now is the time to take advantage of the opportunity.

The first area of focus will be to complete our annual top dressing of fairways in week 15. This event will take up the entire week, but in between there will be work on small repairs on the course.

The following week, the tees are filled with soil and reseeded to give them greater evenness and firmness.

As previously described, the greens have come through the winter well without too much severe fungal damage and will therefore be relatively easy to start up. This week they have been given a small “fertilizer tonic” to support the weak growth that is just getting started. We are very careful not to push them too quickly, but a light top dressing and initial tumbling will quickly bring them up to normal seasonal standards.

A lot of work needs to be done on the green surroundings this year to increase the quality of the turf, and if the match schedule and weather permit in the latter part of April, they will also do some staking, dressing and reseeding.
