August has been a busy time for the Oldboys. We have played our annual traditional match against the Tuesday ladies, we have arranged a closing match for KGK, and we have visited Sweden and played on Ljunghusen's fun pitch.
Board of Directors
We have also held a board meeting of the temporary board, where we have distributed tasks internally, and we are getting ready to present a new board team at the annual general meeting on October 30, which you can then vote in or out 😊
We have initiated an attempt to recreate our Order of Merit, to get our birthdays under control, and to review our bylaws so that what we are doing now can also be done according to the bylaws. We also think that there may be room for another board member, if anyone wants or feels like it.
We also need to be absolutely sure that we have control over new members…

Gun start?
As always, there are many opinions among Oldboys about everything. As long as there is a pulse, there are opinions, and that's how it should be.
There are several, perhaps not a majority, but at least a significant number who do not like starting too far from the club. We have analyzed the subject a little. With a backward gun start, the 18-hole match is usually finished within ½ hour, which means that we gain about ½ hour compared to a running start before we are all (should be) gathered at the club. But that also involves transportation to and from the starting hole, so we probably do not gain that much.
Therefore, as an experiment, we will introduce regular starting from hole 1 for about half of the last matches of the year. We will then gather at the general meeting, where we can conclude what we will do next year.
Matches
Match against the Tuesday club
A total of 38 of us registered for this year's match against the Tuesday ladies. The weather was fine and the company was good, so it was a great day – despite the interim chairman's pronounced lack of IT skills, which caused a mess in the online score registration. Fortunately, we got good help from the office, and managed to run the match as planned.
The winner of the 18-hole match was Eva Bramsnæs and Carsten Jensen, closely followed by Lone Bech and Niels Christian Jensen as well as Vibeke Leschly and Steen Manniche – (possibly in the opposite order of play…).
The 9-hole tournament was won by Beritt Skeel-Gjørling and Erik Hamre.
KGK final match
On 14/9, the Oldboys were divided. The 9-hole match was played from 9:00 AM while the 18-hole match was cancelled and replaced by the KGK final match organized by the Oldboys with a gun start at 12:00 PM.
The 9-hole match was won by Jon Dyhre Hanen with 21 points followed by Søren Juhl Hansen with 20 points.
The KGK match was played as Greensome. There were 24 teams or a total of 48 players, so there was a good turnout. Unfortunately, several other greensome tournaments had already been arranged during the KGK week, so if there is one next time, we will probably try a different match format – a Texas Scramble could be a fun feature, we think.
The prize presentation was made by KGK as part of KGK week, but since several Oldboys players excelled as usual, the first three places are mentioned here:

Tee championship etc.
On the 21st we played tee championship from tee 52, while the 9-hole match played modified stroke play a la Oldboys.
There was a good turnout for the Tee Championship with a total of 25 participants!
The match was won by Arve Sund with 38 points, followed by Søren Juhl Hansen also with 38 points and Niels Kofoed also with 38 points. No. 4 was Christian Strandgaard with 37 points – so it was a close match!
The 9-hole match was won by Claus Tage Hansen with a net score of 32 strokes, followed by Niels Jørgen Jæger with a net score of 34 strokes and Niels Holst Laursen also with a net score of 34.
There were 13 players in the 9-hole match, so we were 38 Oldboys going. It was one of the bigger days for us!
Ljunghusen
We ended up being 15 participants on the annual Sweden tour, which went to the Ljunghusen course in Skanör. It is a real links course, and the board had therefore ensured authentic links conditions by ordering plenty of wind and finishing with a good portion of rain.
Despite the conditions, the scores were good:
The winner was Poul Hansen with 37 points ahead of Arve Sund with 35 points and Michael Gerlif with 33 points.

The next time.
On September 4th there is an Open Men's Day in KGK, but we have been told by the office that it may be cancelled due to too few registrations. If that happens, we will get the day back, so keep an eye on Golfbox if you would like to play Oldboys on the 4th.
On the 11th we will play the tee championship again, this time from tee 49. The 9-hole match will be played stableford.
On the 18th we will play normal stableford in both rows.
On the 25th we will all play modified stroke play a la Oldboys.
