The work on the course is following the plan for September. The greens have been seeded and reseeded this week. The work has gone as expected, except that we have lacked water to wash the sand into the turf. Our pump for the irrigation system has broken down and we are working on a solution.
We have really started mowing the fairways and semi-rough again and things are starting to come together. The conditions are reminiscent of spring when we “mow the fairways” out of the winter hibernation, because the growth is a bit random and sloppy. But just as quietly they are getting denser and shorter. The first reseeding has been completed and more will follow.
Plantain in green surroundings has been given a treat this week with our garlic extract. The roadbed is scorched and the grass is growing over the weakened weed. That's the plan, anyway. In two weeks, the autumn renovation of the green surroundings will follow with dot, seed and sand.
The work on the course in week 37 will focus on making the course as nice as possible for the club championship. In addition, the Par 3 course greens will be dotted and we will begin scorching clover in our surroundings.
