On the course, there has been a focus on bunkers. They have been cleaned of old leaves and other organic waste., edges have been blown clean of sand, sand has been refilled and moved around so that it lies evenly in the bunkers. It is heavy work, but it suits the course. We are now starting to gradually tear bunkers a couple of times a week. River will come back into the bunkers a little later, so continue to smooth out with your feet or sand iron.
Our new greenkeeper Nicolai Larsen started on March 1st. Nicolai will be the first man in the greenkeeper's yard and has already made a good start. As a former elite player, he knows the course from childhood, so he finds it easy to find his way around and thinks that our surroundings in Dyrehaven are fantastic. Nicolai and Hilmar have taken the majority of the bunkers this week, so Nicolai has already got a good feel for the influence our deer game can have on his fine work. Many members have welcomed him in this his first week and it is great to see how attentive you are.
The following major work on the track is planned:
Week 10 (8-12/3): Tees are pricked, reseeded and topdressed. Expect some disruption to your round of golf.
Week 11 (15-19/3): Fairways topdresses. Expect major disruption to your golf round. Check golfbox
Work on the course during this part of the season is very weather dependent. If the mild and dry weather continues we will start our spring preparation on the greens in the latter part of the month.
There is an unusually high level of play on the course this season, which is due to a combination of corona restrictions and lovely mild and dry weather. The high level of play, at a time of year when the grass is at its weakest, also means that several members are expressing their concern about whether the course can withstand the wear and tear. Because the course does get worn out, but fortunately it stands up well. Especially when we follow etiquette and look after the course together. The introduction of the mat requirement a week ago has proven to be a really good idea. If we also keep our distance from the green surroundings (keep your cart outside the striped lines) and remember to straighten the impact marks, we can continue to play as we do now.
Enjoy.
