The editor of this newsletter is going on vacation for 12 days, so we won't be able to cover all of September. The last game day will therefore be included in next month's newsletter.
We got an extra day of play because KGK cancelled the annual 'Open Men's Day' on 4/9. Wonder if this is a trend going forward?
As previously mentioned, the new interim board has divided tasks among itself, and this looks promising. However, with more players, there will be coordination or follow-up work, which we will initially try to solve electronically.
We were running out of wine, so we ordered new supplies, which unfortunately turned out to be sold out. Fortunately, we have found other ways, so there should be prizes for all the next matches. This time we are trying a red wine from the USA. We were a bit confused about whether we should do it because of the current political situation. But maybe they should be rewarded for the announced agreement on Greenland, and maybe it is better that we drink their wine, instead of them making their own?
As you know, we have started to switch between a backward gun start and a running start from hole 1. We still have quite a bit of experience, but we have generally found that there is a big difference in how quickly we get around the course. We would therefore generally encourage faster play, and there is certainly something to be gained from that, but we must also recognize that in Oldboys there must be room for everyone.
The matches:
On September 4th, which we got back after the cancellation of Open Men's Day, we held a normal Oldboys tournament with stableford in all ranks.

On 11/9 we held the Tee Championship from tee 49 while the 9-hole match was played as usual as stableford. You can see that for some it is an advantage with the somewhat shortened course, at least there were nice scores in the tee championship:

The next time:
The creation of start times for the match on 2/10 will be done from Italy. For this reason, the registration deadline has been moved forward to 08:00 on 30/9 in the morning, so that the match director does not have to sit in his hotel room and wait to get started…
We will play tee championship from tee 45 (the shortest course!) on 9/10, on 16/10 we will play normal stableford, while on 23/10 we will play stroke play a la Oldboys with Portvin prizes.
On October 30th there will be a final match over 12 holes followed by a general meeting. We are considering whether to change the match format and play a Texas Scramble instead, that is usually fun too.
