Dear members,
The course is looking great despite the spring drought and cold and finally the conditions at Copenhagen Golf Club are starting to resemble those we know and are used to. It is great that we can now gather again for tournaments, activities and in the restaurant and on the terrace before and after games.
The board is incredibly happy that you have been so good at complying with the restrictions that COVID-19 has imposed on us and we know that you will be just as good at following the few orders that we still have. We have drawn lines on the training field where we have seen it has been most difficult to find your place, and hope that it will now be easier to find space and at the same time comply with the assembly ban.
We would of course like to have reopened the ball court times, as many members want. But as long as we are not sure we have enough space for players waiting to get out, we will maintain the appointment. That is why we are also sticking to a max. 2 times per member on the appointment. We can see that there is a lot of pressure on the field and want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get out.
The board has approved a new budget, and we have hopefully set expectations at the right level in these uncertain times. The good news is that even with this conservative estimate, we will get through 2020 reasonably well, with a small deficit and a nice operating surplus. We believe that we will get the green fee players back later in the year, that you will buy the great products in the shop and welcome our new team in the restaurant. These are the three items in the budget where we are most behind, but we have not budgeted to be able to catch up, just maintain the level in the quarters like last year.
It is primarily the influx of new members that results in a balanced budget. This can be seen in the activities on the training range and the course, but this is how it is when we replace older and less active members with new, fresh forces. Welcome the new ones, we are SO happy that you have chosen Copenhagen Golf Club, and for the record: there is still a good way to reach the maximum number of members that we once had. However, this does not mean that we are just filling up, because of course we must ensure that all members get the best possible experience of their membership.
We should also be proud that the companies that had entered into a contract with us for company days and similar events have not cancelled, but that they want to carry out when possible. It is an important contribution to our economy with these few and limited number of events, and it is important for our future ability to attract them that we live up to the agreements.
We hope you have a wonderful golf season with lots of great experiences both on the course and in the clubhouse. As an association-run club, it is absolutely crucial that our club life returns, the togetherness, the atmosphere, the view from the terrace, everything that makes Copenhagen Golf Club something very special.
