News from the board

Old Boys October 2022 by Tommy

Dear members,

The season is over, but hopefully you enjoyed the warm autumn with good golf and greeted many "new and old" golfers when you meet at the club and on the trail.

The board is looking forward to the results of the improvements we have initiated, both in the clubhouse and in the training area.

As you may have seen, we have now started the first phase, the renovation of the restaurant.

It has been hard to get the offers in place, but we are happy that we have succeeded in including the acoustic ceiling in the renovation already now. In addition, we will have a larger bar area with new bar furniture with acoustic panels, a wall bench with cushions, lamps and spotlights and new café tables, a renovation of the floor, new electrical installations and new curtains.

At the same time, our furnishings are getting an overhaul. This applies to chairs, perhaps also tables. And radiators and ventilation, which can reduce energy loss.

The contractor is working to finish by mid-February. After that, we have two weeks until March 1st to get things set up and ready.

We will wait to decide on the next phases of the renovation when we are sure that the club's financial foundation is in order.

Speaking of finances: Our temporary set-up in the Lounge around food and drinks is of course built on trust. You may have heard of confirmation drinks (yes, they go all the way), and for the record: we don't use them here...

The new recording area has finally been laid, and will be ready for play, depending on the spring weather, in June.

The green is shaped like we know it from the course. It should be comparable to what we encounter out there. The size is very close to the projected 500 square meters.

There will be plenty of space around the green, so more people can play at the same time, and we can also practice playing from rough areas. The new playing green will get more sun, and without chestnut trees nearby like on the putting green, the deer might leave it alone. With the higher location in the terrain and better drainage, it will have good conditions overall, and it is designed to fit in with the surroundings.

Club finances still looks reasonable, but we are cautious. Like other Danish golf clubs, we are seeing a somewhat larger departure of members than in previous years. This is not surprising, and we are therefore extra happy about the 25 new members we took in already in late summer. Interested parties are still being added to the waiting list, we are following the membership development closely, but are not worried at the moment.

With these words, the Board would like to say thank you for 2022 and welcome to the Anniversary Year.

Kind regards

Birgitte Henrichsen, chairman, KGK
