We are approaching the start of the season and not only the board has started to look forward to the season, but also one of our oldest active members wants to be on top of the situation. At the beginning of this month, we received this email from Erling Kjølhede:
May I politely inquire whether I, or possibly several others, can receive guidance on the start-up and subsequent use of the above-mentioned subject (electronic score registration) before the start of the season?
I can state that several times last year I played several 18-hole two-balls in under three hours and a quarter with normal scorecard filling.
I shouldn't be disqualified for not respecting the time limit when we play with an electronic scorecard.
Kind regards, Erling member no. 833
Based on Erling's email, we have now chosen to ask all of you whether there are others - for example the many new members - who would also like to get a little introduction to how to fill out your scorecard on the phone in connection with our matches?
We must therefore ask everyone who would like to participate in a small introductory meeting on how to use their phone for score registration - to respond to this email to the chairman before March 8th. When we know the number, we will invite you to 1-2 sessions where we go through the system so that everyone is ready for the 2024 season.
Excursion to Sweden
We have the great pleasure, SEE MORE HERER, to invite you to participate in this year's excursion to Sweden. This year it is already August 16th and we will play the best course in Sweden (voted in 2022 and 2023): Tegelberga north of Trelleborg. We have 20 places on a first-come, first-served basis.
New old member and two new ones
KGK member 1-634 Mogens Nielsen is again a member of Old Boys. Mogens has not played with us in recent years due to illness in his immediate family.
We warmly welcome Mogens back!
We can also warmly welcome 1-3261 Mr. Henrik Schnefeld and 1-598 Jacob S. Arrevad, as new members of our club in the club.
We now have 108 members, 10 of whom are new since the General Assembly.
A crazy idea?
The editor has had the – crazy? – idea of doing a “Profile of the Month”, where we ask a member of the Old Boys Club 4 simple questions, so that we can all learn just a little bit about the ones we go and play with. We therefore sent out this invitation:
The editorial team of “Life in the Old Boys Club” has decided to make a regular feature in every Monthly News – where we have “Profile of the Month”. The first ones we have selected are the oldest of our members, as well as those who are turning 90, 85, 80 and 75 in 2024. You are among these and I would like to ask you if you are up for the joke by answering these 4 simple questions?
1: When did you start playing golf – and at which club?
2: What did you do when you were working?
3: When did you become a member of KGK?
4: What is the best thing for you as a member of the Old Boys club?
We hope you'll be on board with the idea when it's your turn to receive the invitation?
Profile of the Month in February
We start with our oldest member 1-865 Karsten Philip, who has answered:
I started in KGK at the age of 8 with coach “Neser” in 1941. Unfortunately, it doesn't show in my play.
I have run a fur and skin business, wholesale and retail.
I became a member of KGK the same year (1941) that I started. Unfortunately, I later resigned partly because of work and partly because of a career that is sailing at a fairly high level. My re-registration must have been reported to the office, but unfortunately it was too late for me to be exempt from dues when I reached the age for it.
The golf and the socializing with the very nice and friendly people I meet at the Old Boys Club.
Birthdays

On Tuesday, March 5, 1-1031 Nils Winther will celebrate his 80th birthday.
On Sunday, March 31, 1-1564 Svend Ørjan Jensen will celebrate his 80th birthday. Svend has not played for the past 6-7 years, but has faithfully paid his dues every year, and we are very grateful for that. THANKS!
New knee
1-1971 Christian Ravn has had a new knee and will therefore not be able to play with us until early summer. We wish Christian a pain-free recovery and we look forward to playing with him this summer.
Farewell to Christian Tage Nyvang Hansen
The board of directors attended Christian's farewell reception on February 23. We did not give a speech, but in a letter we thanked him for many years of good cooperation. We are all very sad that he will not continue at KGK, but of course we wish him all the best in the future. We were convinced that Christian received many wine gifts, which is why we decided to give a different gift in the form of an exciting book about Italian wines + a bottle of good Italian wine. You can see the book here (Muusmann Forlag):

A historical look back
In connection with the preparation of the upcoming Yearbook for KGK, the chairman of the Tuesday Club Annette Suhr has sent us the following short article from Club Bulletin no. 13 in June 1993 – back then things were a bit different than today 🙂

Quote of the month
“The straight path is the best”
Invitation to the 2024 Opening Match on April 5th for 18-hole players (9-hole players have their own match on May 3rd)
We are betting that next month will be mild, sunny and, not least, dry, so that we can open the season as planned.
We start the season by playing a 12-hole Stableford Team Match from Tee 52.
The prize is the best of the season: An annual membership to the Old Boys Club for each player on the winning team worth 300 DKK (it doesn't get any better than that!)
If you participate in this match, you cannot also participate in the 9-hole Opening Match on May 3rd.
Registration starts on March 1st at GolfBox, which will again make the teams so that the total playing handicap is as similar as possible. We will play holes 1-8 +15-18 with a Gunstart at 09:00. Meeting time is 08:30.
The following applies:
On the course's Holes 1-4 – it is the best score per hole that counts
On the course's Holes 5-8 – the 2 best scores per hole count.
On the course's Holes 15-18 – the 3 best scores per hole count.
In the event of a tie, the lowest overall handicap is weighted.
The team captain fills out an old-fashioned scorecard with results per hole + total.
You register in GolfBox during the Club Tournament before Wednesday, April 3rd at 12:00. Old Boys offers 2 sandwiches per player, drinks at your own expense.
Status Winter Tournament
We have unfortunately had a real winter this year, so many have not been able to play their matches. We are sorry for that, but it is unfortunately 'out of our hands' and with barely 1 month left to play, there are some who are more than busy getting matches played, especially in the B-row. We do not think it can be achieved, but we hope the B-row players are of a different opinion?

Kind regards
The Board of Directors of Old Boys
Copenhagen Golf Club
