Dear members,
The board has – after closing access to the club area and driving range, stopping all club activities and collecting flags and rakes, etc. – in recent days allowed play on the course under a number of restrictions. If these are adhered to, we are clearly within the guidelines set by the authorities. At the same time, the controlled member access to the course has meant that you have kept a close eye on each other, and in this way ensured that the rules have been followed. The stay on the golf course has thus been significantly safer than the many who have gone for a walk on the public, busy paths in Dyrehaven. That we should get fresh air and exercise is recommended by both the Prime Minister, the SST and doctors – as long as we take the recommended precautions.
However, developments have overtaken us, and the Board has been forced to reconsider the decision to keep the course open for members' play under restrictions.
On the one hand, we must note that Dyrehaven is visited by an extraordinary number of forest visitors and horse riders these days, which naturally increases the risk in connection with the game of golf. On the other hand, we must note that there has been increasing negative publicity in continuation of the DGU's decision to go one step further than the authorities by recommending a total closure of the clubs.
The board of directors does not wish to contribute in any way to damaging the reputation of golf – and certainly not of Copenhagen Golf Club. Therefore, we have decided, that the course will be closed to golf play from Monday at sunrise until further notice.
We await an announcement from DGU after March 26th and will of course keep you updated on developments.
Thank you for your understanding. Take good care of each other and yourselves.
On behalf of the Board of Directors
Birgitte Henrichsen
Chairman
