We are entering Easter at full speed and a “mid-way” status is in order.
Important information:
Play will be to a provisional green on the 1st and 18th holes.
The ball machine at the range is open.
The teeing ground at the driving range is still closed. Playing from this is strictly prohibited.
Our construction work on the driving range is over and the range is drying up enough that regular collection of balls is possible. The ball machine opened on Tuesday with all the season start-up problems that the old machine can handle. Therefore, you can expect balls to come from the ball machine, from large tubs or, in the worst case, that you will still have to collect them by hand.
The fence around the renovated teeing ground on the driving range has now been taken down, but the teeing ground is not yet ready for use. There are clear signs that it is prohibited to use.
The driving range (and par 3 course) are the wettest areas on our course and are always the last areas to get going so please bear with the current conditions.
The 18-hole course is off to a good start. The grass growth is still minimal, so it makes room for many other important tasks than mowing. The greens are mowed approx. 1/week and perform well. We still look after the 1st and 18th greens and the flag is usually on the foregreen, but there are not many days left before they are firmly on the greens.
We have been working on the 15th fairway today and yesterday, top dressing, aerating and dotting. The 15th fairway is one of the slightly damp fairways and also suffers from a lot of deer traffic, so a process of making it drier and firmer is an important additional measure. If the fine weather continues, a number of other fairways will experience the same treatment.
After Easter, the focus will be on getting the rest of the course mowed for the first time this year. Tees and green surrounds will get a makeover and perhaps fairways will be mowed as well. We will continue to renovate and repair bunkers and keep the repairs moist with water. April is notoriously a dry and windy month.
As always:
Straighten your impact marks
Put turf back on fairways and semiroughs after your shot
Keep an eye on the ball in front of and behind you to ensure good flow on the court.
Happy Easter and have fun.
