The winter golf season has now ended. From today on, there are flags on the greens every day from morning to evening. There are also river in the bunkers again.

Mair sand, Honeyman, mair sand!

According to legend, these were the words that Old Tom Morris shouted to his assistant Honeyman on the golf course in St. Andrews when they were top dressing the greens.

So we are also doing that on the Copenhagen Golf Club course. Sand is an incredibly important factor in creating quality grass surfaces and therefore there is a great focus in the near future on utilizing the time to get as many surfaces as possible ready for the season.

Week 12: This week all fairways are topdressed with sand. The work takes approx. 3 days and is carried out by a contractor and he requires peace of mind to be able to achieve it. Therefore, you may experience that some holes are closed to play while the contractor is working. In the same week, another contractor starts to aerate our fairways and the greenkeepers drag the sand down and reseed with grass seed. So there will be plenty of traffic on the fairways.

Approximately 0.5 cm of sand is being spread on the 8 hectares of fairways we have at our disposal and that will always be a lot. It is our expectation that the sand will be worked off the surface in a couple of weeks. Although there is no active growth in the grass yet, the time has been chosen based on the consideration that there are as few golfers as possible who are bothered by the sand.

Week 13. This week, tees are pricked, reseeded and topdressed.

Week 14. Now it's time for the greens, foregreens and green surroundings. These are pricked, reseeded and topdressed.

In parallel with these tasks, we continue to prepare bunkers for the season. Some rolled grass is also being laid out at our new petanque court and at damaged bunker edges.
